Research Professionals Posting Open Date:Ħ months not to exceed 11 months Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit: Management of the mouse colonies (genotyping, weanings) and assistance with in vivo experiments is expected.Lineberger Compr Cancer Center - 426801 Career Area : The research technician will closely work with the PI and lab members in molecular biology and cell culture experiments. We use a variety of approaches: mouse genetics, multicolor flow cytometry, biochemistry as well as next generation sequencing to evaluate the transcriptome and the epigenome. Particular emphasis is placed on the TET family of proteins that are involved in DNA demethylation and are frequently mutated in hematologic malignancies. We try to understand how aberrations in the differentiation process can result in autoimmunity, inflammation or malignant transformation. We are interested in dissecting how T cells differentiate and perform their immune functions. The Lab’s focus is to understand how gene expression is regulated in T lymphocytes. The Center’s mission is to reduce cancer occurrence and death in North Carolina and the nation through research, treatment, training, and outreach. The UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, founded in 1975, is one of 47 National Cancer Institute ( NCI)-designated comprehensive cancer centers in the country. We will foster programs in the areas of basic, translational, mechanistic, and population research.
